The styrian cross championships took place today in Loipersdorf a location known for the thermal baths. I took part in the main category in order to test my actual shape and in order to do a good training. But I was not the only orienteer to take part in this competition. Also Matthias Müller and the guys from HSV Pinkafeld were lined up at the start. I tried to start at a moderate speed. Normally it is difficult for me not to overpeace in the beginning of such a competition with everyone starting at high speed. But today it worked out perfectly and i was able to speed up in the second part of the race and take some positions. I finished 3rd, 38 sec down on the winner and 20 sec down on Matthias Müller, who took a good 2nd place. Also the other orienteers performed well, Gernot Kerschbaumer was 7th and Markus Lang 8th.I think that my physical shape is quite ok for this early moment in the season. Was nice to do a competition like this. And the spa afterwards was even better. Results can be found on www.stlv.at, |
