O-intervallsIt was a very short term decision. I had planned some time ago with my friends to fly to Stockholm for a weekend trip. On Friday I told myself, why not use one day for some O-trainings in nice Swedish terrain. So I joined my Club, IFK Lidingö for 2 trainings sessions on Saturday near Trosa, where this years Swedish championships will take place. A middle distance training in the morning followed by a discussion about night-o (completely in Swedish, but almost no problem for me!) and an orienteering interval training in the afternoon was planned.

The middle distance training was my first training in Sweden after almost 10 months. I knew it won't be to easy. I did some stupid mistakes to control number 2 and 5. After that I found my right speed and technique for that day and managed to do a couple of good controls.
In the afternoon I had the honor to run the O-intervalls with Emil Lauri. The basic idea of the training was to do some controls at highest possible speed and then rest for a minute or two before starting again. The exercise had to be done in pairs. The first runner had 20 seconds head start and had to try to bring the lead to the finish of the interval. Even if I succeeded in "winning" just 1 out of the 8 intervals I was happy with this training, because we did some really good controls at high speed.
Nice training day. Thanks to those responsible for organisation. Looking forward to April. I will be back to Stockholm for some more trainings!
